I offer a range of bicycle services within the Ceiriog Valley for all your cycling needs, from a simple puncture to a complete bicycle build. Perhaps you are a cyclist pushed for time? If so why not use my collection services to have your bike picked up from your Home or place of work. Kids are always desperate to get out and play on their bikes. Have you considered the last time they were mechanically checked over? Are they still safe? Perhaps you need that “piece of mind safety check”. On this website I have provided details of service and repair options I offer. These include bike safety checks, tune-ups, brake servicing, puncture repair, gear servicing, wheel and tyre services. I am fully transparent with my pricing and provide a comprehensive price list for most jobs, working from my home workshop I have no large overheads so can pass on my savings, keeping costs down. Gear Service.
Gears will be tuned and indexed where applicable. Derailleur systems will have limit screws set, and the alignment of the rear mech hanger will be checked. Cables will be replaced as needed.

Drivechain degrease.
Drivechain will be removed and put through a parts washer to get it super clean. The gears will then be serviced as per a gear service, allow a budget for an inner cable or two.

Wheel Truing.
When truing a wheel I always aim to get within 0.5mm. Truing a wheel will often include tensioning the spokes.
(Any damaged or broken spokes are replaced at £1 per spoke) Wheel Truing. £12

Fork Fitting.
Removal of old forks replace with new but with the additional work of cutting down the steerer tube, checking headset.

Full Strip Down Service.
This service is a full strip down of a bike to a bare frame and includes the following: Bike stripped to a bare frame, frame and forks cleaned and checked. Headset and bottom bracket are removed, their condition checked, they are greased and refitted. Wheel hubs are disassembled, checked for damage, cleaned, greased and reassembled. Drive chain and brakes are degreased and serviced. Then the bike is serviced as per a general service.
Full Strip Down Service. £110

General Service.
This service is my main service, it includes the following: Wheels are trued, hubs are checked for play and adjusted if needed. Headset and bottom bracket are checked for play and adjusted if applicable. Gears tuned and indexed, cabling and pads are replaced as needed. Nuts & bolts are checked such as crank, stem and handlebar clamp. Tyres are inflated, drivechain lubricated and the bike is cleaned.
General Service. £50

Groupset Fitting and Setup.
This service is the removal and cleaning of old groupset, and fitting of new: Bike stripped to a bare frame, frame and forks cleaned and checked. Installation of all new components and cabling. Wheel hubs checked and wheels are trued. braking surfaces are cleaned. Handlebars are taped. Then the bike is serviced as per a general service.

Brake Pad Fitting.
The fitting of new brake pads and balancing and tightening of the brake. Unlike a brake service, the labour doesn’t include fitting or lubricating the cables, or the cleaning of the rims or rotors.

Basic Service / Tune up.

This basic service is a tune up of a bike, it includes the following: Wheels are checked for true, hubs are checked for play. Headset, bottom bracket and cranks are checked for play. Gears and brakes tuned and adjusted as neccessary. Nuts & bolts are checked, chain lubricated, tyres inflated.

Safety Check.

I will assess the overall roadworthiness of your bike from top to bottom checking for any safety issues & signs of wear.
Special attention will be given to the frame, forks, brakes, steering, cables, gears, wheels & hubs, tyres, drive train & bottom bracket
Hopefully your bike will be in a good state of health but if not I will let you know of any problems that arise & give advice as to work that is required to make it safe.

General Workshop Prices.

Headset Services.
The headset will be removed, cleaned and inspected for damage and wear. The head tube of the frame and the steerer tube of the fork will also be cleaned and checked. The headset will be refitted and the cups and bearings will be greased. The headset will be adjusted accordingly.

Chainset Fitting.
Includes the above with the cleaning of the old chainset, and the adjustment of the front mech as needed.

Chain and Cassette / Freewheel Fitting.
As per a gear service with the fitting of new parts. If just the chain needs to be replaced with this service, then the cassette will be removed and degreased.

Existing bar tape will be removed,cables will be tidied if needed, bars will be wrapped and bar plugs fitted.

Brake Cable Fitting.
The installation of a single brake cable and the setting up of the relevant part. Includes the cost of the inner cable.

I have been cycling for a number of years on both mountain and road bikes, I have always maintained my own and family bikes. In March 2016 I took early retirement from my work at Cadbury's after 25 years, I then decided to take a recognised cycle maintenance course, where I gained a City & Guilds qualification in Bicycle Mechanics. I now service and repairing bicycles from my own workshop in the Ceiriog Valley.
